The third annual CONTRAST meeting was held in Livingstone, Zambia, from October 6 - 9, 2008.
The meeting was hosted by CONTRAST's partners at the The Department of Community Medicine, under the School of Medicine at the University of Zambia.

The meeting was pre-ceeded by a GIS course held in arranged in collaboration with the GnosisGIS network.

The meeting will run from Monday to Thursday.

After the official opening ceremony we will start out with a status briefing from the objective leaders. This is followed by a presentation on the opportunities using GIS techniques in epidemiology.

After that follows a number of sessions open for CONTRAST members where they will have the opportunity to present their ongoing work and findings. Please note that we expect that the these presentations will have to send in titles and abstracts prior to the meeting, just like when attending any other scientific conference. The presentations will be put on the website afterwards.

The meeting is going to be held at the Chrismar Hotel in Livingstone. The hotel borders the Mosi oa Tunya national park and 5 minutes drive from the Victoria Falls.

Getting there

The easiest way to reach Livingstone is to go there by air - however, from some destinations, especially if tickets are booked late, the price for flying to Livingstone gets unreasonably high compared to going to Lusaka. The alternative is therefore to reach Livingstone from Lusaka by bus.

Once you are in Livingstone, we will arrange transport going from the bus station/airport to the hotel.
